SmartC is designed for three groups: (1) UK individuals who are self-employed, landlords, or have complex personal income; (2) accounting firms that manage multiple client tax filings; (3) accountants invited by firms to work on specific clients.

Tax & HMRC

Yes. SmartC integrates with HMRC's Making Tax Digital APIs. We hold the required authorisations for MTD ITSA and CIS digital submissions.
Making Tax Digital for Income Tax Self Assessment requires UK taxpayers with qualifying income to submit quarterly digital updates to HMRC from April 2026. SmartC handles this end-to-end.
SmartC handles quarterly MTD ITSA updates and final declarations. These replace and supersede traditional SA100 paper returns for MTD-mandated taxpayers.
Yes. You can connect a HMRC sandbox account to test submissions without affecting live filings. Ideal for firms training new staff.

Security & data

All data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.3 and at rest using AES-256. We are ICO-registered (UK data protection authority) and comply fully with GDPR.
Never. We share your data only with HMRC when you explicitly submit a filing. No data is sold or shared with advertising or analytics companies.
All data is stored in UK/EU data centres. We do not transfer personal data outside the UK/EEA.
